Why use a broker for your business?

Berney Associés expands its offering with a new expertise: insurance brokerage. Led by Julien Gourdet, who has nearly 20 years of experience in the field. We asked him five questions about his role, his vision of the profession, and how he supports companies.
Why should a company use an insurance broker?
A company is constantly evolving. It hires, invests, and develops new activities… Its insurance policies do not necessarily follow the same pace. Our role is precisely to verify that they always correspond to the reality of the company. To do this, we can rely on our independence and seek the best solutions on the market.
Specifically, what do you do for a company that commissions you?
Generally, I start by conducting an assessment: the company’s activities, its risks, its contracts and its needs. Then, if necessary, I consult the market, compare the offers and negotiate with the insurers. Then I accompany the client throughout the process, whether for renewals, changes in their business or when a claim occurs. The idea is to have a single point of contact for all their insurance questions.
What makes you different from another broker or a traditional insurance agent?
Unlike an agent representing a company, our role as a broker is to represent the client and defend their interests with the insurers. That is the main difference. And the strength of Berney Associates is being able to work in conjunction with the other expertise of the group. Because in reality, insurance issues are rarely completely isolated from the tax, legal or accounting issues of a company.
If a company wants to review its insurance policies, how can they contact you and how does that work?
It’s very simple: just click on the button below to learn more about our expertise and schedule a first meeting, in our offices, by phone or video conference. Companies that are already customers of Berney Associés can also contact their usual contact person, who will be responsible for the connection.
We start with an exchange to understand the situation and expectations. And the important thing to remember is that you don’t need to wait for a problem to arise to take stock.
